Washington DC: It seems
like Priyanka Chopra’s popularity is sky-rocketing higher and higher, with the
actor now being invited by the White House for US President Barack Obama’s
annual soiree, which will take place later this month.
The annual
correspondent’s dinner will be the last White House Correspondents Dinner to be
hosted by Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Along with Priyanka, global
superstars like Bradley Cooper, Lucy Liu, Jane Fonda and Gladys Knight have
also been invited for the soiree.
The former Miss World currently
has her hands full with the new season of Quantico
and her maiden Hollywood film Baywatch.
Whether she will make it to the White House dinner or not, will be clear only
next week.
While the White House
Correspondents dinner is traditionally for media persons, TV networks who share
corporate parentage with entertainment divisions wind up with “talent” at the
table.
Larry Wilmore, the host
of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore on Comedy Central, will
be the entertainer for this edition of the annual dinner, which has been
scheduled for 30 April this year.
The 33-year-old actor-singer
was one of the presenters at the 88th Academy Awards earlier this year, where
along with actor Liev Schreiber, she presented the Oscar for Best Film Editing
to Margaret Sixel for Mad Max: Fury Road. Her role as Alex Parrish in Quantico has made her the first South
Asian woman to headline an American network series, for which she won the
People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actress In A New TV Series in January, 2016,
at the 36th People’s Choice Awards.
