President Pranab Mukherjee Indicated Modi’s Visit to African Countries after Him

Accra: following President Pranab Mukherjee’s maiden visit to three African nations, speculations over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the nations raised. Reports are that PM Modi is very likely to visit few of the African countries in coming months.


Notably, President Mukherjee is currently in Africa and will visit Ghana, Ivory Coast and Namibia in six days ‘to boost trade ties with these countries known for having solid political system, where democracy has taken roots.’
Sources said that the indications of Modi’s visit to Africa were given by President Mukherjee while he was addressing a reception hosted by the Indian High Commissioner K.Jeeva Sagar at Ghana. The President also asserted that India and Africa has a friendly relation for years and that it has deepened over the years.


“My first visit as President of India to three African countries is not accidental,” said the Indian President. He also added that India has planned sequential visit to African countries after the India-Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi last year. While addressing the reception, the President said to the Indian community to join ‘Digital India’, ‘Startup India, Stand up India’, ‘Clean India Mission’, ‘Smart Cities’ campaign initiated by PM Modi.
Meanwhile the President had noted that India has $35 million investments in Africa and over $70 million of trade share. The nation is planning to extend the investment by $5billion by 2020 in the in various projects.
