Kolkata:
Rains in Kolkata have made a grand comeback giving the residents that much
needed relief from the prevailing weather conditions. The city was reeling
under hot and sultry conditions, however, these rains have been a blessing in
disguise for the residents of Kolkata.
The
city of joy witnessed heavy rains yesterday. These rains began to lash the city
during the early morning hours. In fact, in just a span of three hours, the
Dumdum observatory in Kolkata recorded a whopping 54 mm of rain. During the
same time span, the Alipore observatory recorded 32 mm rainfall.
Once
again, rains have begun to lash Kolkata since the morning hours. These
Pre-Monsoon showers have lashed Kolkata for the second consecutive day.
These rains can be attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation which is
over Bihar and adjoining West Bengal.
Due to heavy rains yesterday, maximum
temperature in Kolkata witnessed a steep drop. In fact, while the maximum
settled at 40 degrees on June 11, the temperature dropped to a mere 26.8 degree
Celsius. Minimum temperature has also witnessed a steep drop from 33.2 degrees
to 25.5 degrees.
As per EXIN Times, with rains lashing
Kolkata once again, temperatures will remain well below the normal levels. In
fact, with the maximums being at such low levels, the city of joy will remain
joyous for quite some time now.
An overcast sky throughout the day brought
some respite to the denizens of the city, where high day and night temperatures
coupled with high humidity had made life miserable. Day temperatures in other
parts of the State also remained below normal due to overnight rains or morning
showers.
