Heavy Rains Lash Kolkata For Second Consecutive Day

Kolkata: Rains in Kolkata have made a grand comeback giving the residents that much needed relief from the prevailing weather conditions. The city was reeling under hot and sultry conditions, however, these rains have been a blessing in disguise for the residents of Kolkata.
The city of joy witnessed heavy rains yesterday. These rains began to lash the city during the early morning hours. In fact, in just a span of three hours, the Dumdum observatory in Kolkata recorded a whopping 54 mm of rain. During the same time span, the Alipore observatory recorded 32 mm rainfall.
Once again, rains have begun to lash Kolkata since the morning hours. These Pre-Monsoon showers have lashed Kolkata for the second consecutive day. These rains can be attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation which is over Bihar and adjoining West Bengal.
Due to heavy rains yesterday, maximum temperature in Kolkata witnessed a steep drop. In fact, while the maximum settled at 40 degrees on June 11, the temperature dropped to a mere 26.8 degree Celsius. Minimum temperature has also witnessed a steep drop from 33.2 degrees to 25.5 degrees.
As per EXIN Times, with rains lashing Kolkata once again, temperatures will remain well below the normal levels. In fact, with the maximums being at such low levels, the city of joy will remain joyous for quite some time now.
An overcast sky throughout the day brought some respite to the denizens of the city, where high day and night temperatures coupled with high humidity had made life miserable. Day temperatures in other parts of the State also remained below normal due to overnight rains or morning showers.
