UNICEF Declares 20,000 Children Ambushed In Iraqi Town, Calls for All Party Meeting to Provide Safe Passage

Baghdad: The United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on Wednesday issued a warning to the Iraqi troops and the Islamic state militants and urged to release the 20,000 children caged in Fallujah along with more 50,000 civilians of the city. Fallujah is a city located at the west of Baghdad.

According to UNICEF, at least 20,000 children are estimated remain trapped in the city. “Food and medicine are running out and clean water is in short supply,” said the agency in a statement. Also, it was confirmed that almost 50,000 residents from Fallujah city is also captured there, occupied by ISIS. Reports are that the residents face ‘dire humanitarian conditions’. The city had 300,000 populations five years back that have now dropped down to 50, 000 only while the children in the city are very likely to be deployed in war crimes and force.
“These children see their lives and future jeopardized as they are forced to carry and use arms, fighting in an adult war,” UNICF feared.  Also, an all party meeting was called to combat with the situation while protecting the children of Fallujah. It was also noted that Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi made deliberately delayed to minimize the assault of civilian casualties.
