New Delhi: Randeep Hooda is all set to take up another
challenge and play the role of a Sikh soldier in Rajkumar Santoshi’s new film Battle of Saragarhi. The film will
showcase Hooda in the lead role, a decision declared recently to put a stop to
all the speculations.
Reports are that Hooda took to Twitter to unveil his first
look in the film Battle of Saragarhi.
He posted a still photograph of himself from the film and captioned it saying: “#RandeepGoesToWar
as #HavaldarIsharSingh! #BattleOfSaragirhi #1897.” The Sarbajit-famer actor was seen sporting beard and a khaki turban in
the poster.
Hooda will be seen playing the role of Havildar Ishar Singh
in the film who was the military commander leading the 36th Sikhs in the
battle. Battle of Saragarhi is based
on a true story that took place in 1897 between British Indian Army and Afghan
Orakzai tribesmen in the North-West Frontier Province, as reports has asserted.
Also, the film will portray the battle when 21 Sikhs went on to become the
heroes of the mission.
Reports have revealed that the lead actor is under strict regime
ahead of the shooting of Battle of
Saragarhi. He is also under strict physical
training to portray features similar to a military commander. Battle of Saragarhi will be produced by
Raju Chadha, under the banner of Wave Cinemas.
