New Delhi: On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency
(NIA) has asserted that a Pakistani terrorist in its custody accepted that
terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayyba is ‘fuelling’ the unrest in Kashmir. The
investigating agency also claimed that the terrorist was ‘infiltrated’ into
Kashmir and was said to throw grenades at the security forces with the crowd.
“Bahadur Ali was member of one of the groups who was
directed to take advantage of the current situation in Kashmir and throw
grenades by mixing into the crowd,” Inspector-General Sanjeev Kumar Singh
added,
Sources said that the terrorist, who claimed himself as
Bahadur Ali alias Saifulla, is a resident of Lahore, Pakistan. Also, this is
the first time NIA has released a video graph of the terrorist being
interrogated and his confession, who was arrested in North Kashmir’s Kupwara on
July 26.
Stating is a significant feat of the NIA officials, Singh
said the evidence would ‘stand international judicial scrutiny and, if
required, the agency will share it with Pakistan through proper channels for
further action.’
Reports also revealed that the 21-year-old Pakistani was
specially trained to use the advantage of the unrest followed killing of Hizbul
Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.
