New Delhi: On Sunday, long jumper Ankit Sharma has booked
his Olympic ticket in the men’s long jump category in Kazakhasthan. Apart from
cementing his place in the Rio Olympics 2016, the 23-year-old athlete has also
set a new national record with a jump of 8.17 metres.

Anas had also qualified for the Rio Olympics, starting on August 5 to 20,
making the number of Indian representatives into 103. Archer atanu das has also
qualified yesterday and ecured a berth in the men’s individual event.
Reports are that with five more contenders who were
qualified on Sunday, India became the strongest ever contingent for the 2016
Olympics with 103 athletes.

Odisha’s Srabani from qualified the women's 200 metre event after covering the
distance in 23.07 seconds while Anas has become the 100th Indian to
qualify for Rio Games by breaking the men's 400-metre national record on
the second day of Polish Athletics Championship in Bydgoszcz.
