CM Banerjee to Make First Public Appearance on Grand Kolkata Rally Today

Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee will make her first public appearance on Thursday after she got selected to continue the second term as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The CM is all set to address lakhs of people outside the Victoria House at Esplanade to commemorate the Martyr’s Day.


July 21 is celebrated annually as Martyr’s Day to memorize the killing of 13 congress youths on this day of 1993. EXIN Times sources have asserted that apart memorizing the martyrs in the day-long rally, Banerjee is likely to thank her supporters during her speech for selecting her for the second time.
The rally, which will receive thousands of Trinamool Congress supporters from suburbs and villages, will be squeezed with more than 2800 police personnel. 23 deputy commissioners, 60 assistant commissioners, 400 sub-inspectors and sub-guards, 450 assistant sub-Inspectors and 200 women police personnel will be deployed to duty today. 13 ambulances, Radio Flying Squads and Heavy Radio Flying Squads, Kolkata police’s dog squad and bomb squad will also be present in the rally to prevent any untimely situation, as a Kolkata police officer has said to EXIN Times.


Also, picture of CM Banerjee was permitted to use in all campaign materials for Thursday’s rally. Party supporters have been ordered to not collect any money from the public for any cause. “Following a direction from our top leadership, all leaders have been told not to use their photographs along with Didi’s in all flexes, banners and posters for the July 21 martyrs’ day where she will be the main speaker,” said a TMC party member who is in charge to scrutiny the party regulations.
He also added that the higher authority had sent CDs to all district units of the party, MPs, MLAs and councilors with Banerjee’s photo in it. It has been ordered to use that particular photo only to maintain uniformity. TMC authority also has been asked to not use any other name or take printouts on campaign materials.
