The 21-year-old college girl, who was
assaulted at Netaji Nagar for wearing shorts and smoking publicly, has
identified the abuser Kamal Ganguly on Tuesday, in front of the magistrate.
Ganguly was a member of the six-member gang who had assaulted the girl earlier
this month has stirred the city.
Reports are that the girl has received a letter by
the Netaji Nagar police station that asked her to attend a court session in
presence of the fourth judicial magistrate. The abused girl there identified
the 70-year-old Kamal, who along with his son was accused of abusing the young
girl. Police had picked up more nine people of same age and same features but
the girl identified Ganguly with seconds.
Ganguly is a resident of the Netaji Nagar area and
is famous in the locality for acting as a moral police. Police found that the
night the student was attacked; she was with other five people along with his
son. Police picked up the accused within 72 hours after the complaint was
lodged but Ganguly’s son Shouvik was reported spending holidays in Digha.
