Rafael Nadal Excluded From French Open with Wrist Injury

Paris: Nine times French open champion Rafael Nadal on Friday was said to be pulling out of this year’s tournament due an injury in his left wrist. The tennis star disclosed the injury yesterday at a press meet and cited wrist injury as the reason of his exclusion from the famed tennis tournament.
An unexpected outcome indeed, Nadal, addressing the press meet had said: “I have a problem with my wrist... on Thursday, I played with an injection, I could play but yesterday night I started to feel more and more pain. On Friday, I felt I could not move my wrist.”

The 29-year-old Spanish tennis player is going through an ‘injury-plagued’ period since 2009. His recent wrist injury is followed by two other wounds he had during 2009 and 2012 Wimbledon and London games respectively. In Wimbledon tournament 2009, Nadal was prevented to perform due to a knee injury. In 2012, he missed London games for another injury.
Reports are that on Thursday, he also became the eighth player in the tennis history to record 200th Grand Slam match wins. Nadal played with a painkiller injection yesterday and won against Facundo Bagnis with 6-3, 6-0, 6-3. However, Nadal is hoped to be fit and able to play at the Wimbledon tournament starting next month.
